Obesity Pillars: 30 Obesity Myths

SUPER BRIEF SUMMARY

The Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) released their list of 30 obesity myths, misconceptions and/or oversimplifications¹. The list is pretty long but has some great details and explanations. The often held misconceptions that obesity is a “lifestyle choice” and is just “calories in and calories out” are clearly incorrect. This document elaborates on this and many more!

 THE WHOLE TALK

Obesity Pillars is the journal created and shared by the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). They often do an excellent job of summarizing and explaining difficult topics. Their material is accessible and helpful to both the individual patient and the front line clinician trying to help those suffering from obesity. This paper reviews and discusses 30 often held myths regarding the disease of obesity¹. I won’t rehash the whole paper here as the article itself is open access and will do a better job than me. Below is the summary table for your enjoyment. Follow the link below to read the whole article yourself.
